On Saturday 16th January 2016….
Killingworth Lake is alive with Goosanders and Goldeneyes during the winter and this year has been particularly good, as the birds present are proving to be very friendly. During my visit on the 16th, I was also lucky to also see a visiting Redhead Smew, which is a species I don’t record as often in the County nowadays. I also noted my first Killingworth Pochard of the Year. Sad to see Pochard numbers declining so fast.
